five days into november. wow. it feels like just yesterday that i was reflecting on giving the month of september a second chance. of course, that could have much to do with the fact that i've only managed to write about two new posts since then. i'm learning more and more each day just how busy q4 is in my little world. back-to-back event shows, on top of my routinely random duties, have definitely kept me running--from new york to la and back again.

about a week ago, (had i had the time) i fully intended to reflect on my annual disdain for a certain store-bought holiday that occurs every 31st of october. it's not so much that i hate halloween (if you were to visit my apartment at some point in the month, you might be surprised to find a few festive decorations and a pumpkin dish filled with candy corns), but unlike the treats, i think the tricks are for kids.

i've never been comfortable with the whole concept of dressing up in costume and parading around in public. frankly, i find it embarrassing. for many, i realize it's an opportunity to hide behind a mask, make others laugh, or impress the masses with one's creative prowess. and, thanks to mean girls spelling it out for us, we all know that many girls use the opportunity to dress like sluts and whores. and really, i don't judge. there are popular parades, raucous bar scenes, and costume parties galore...all of which i'm happy to take part in from time to time (as myself), but for the most part, i really prefer to sidestep the whole thing. in fact, i stopped trick-or-treating at 9 years old (well below the national average, i'm almost certain). it's just not for me.

and once again it's come and gone--an evil gateway (somewhat literally) between the "fall-lull" and the real holidays i enjoy so much. and as of right now, i'm as happy as the turkey i'm going to eat in about 18 days. gobble, gobble, good.
