the pet peeve you didn't realize you have
as if it isn't annoying enough to call someone on their cell phone and be directed to their voicemail (i mean isn't the point of a cell phone to make someone available 24/7??) we must endure not one, but two voicemail greetings.
after sally, jimmy, or sue take anywhere from 15 to 60 seconds to explain to us that we have reached their phones but they are unavailable to take our call (duh) and we are invited to leave them a detailed voice message, we part our lips in preparation to speak, but are quickly silenced by the taken-for-granted second automated message we must endure. some of the female robots (namely those employed by sprint) allow us to bypass the automated message by pushing 1, while others (such as those employed by t-mobile) give us no choice but to listen to numerous options that must be considered before the magical beep finally signals the all-clear to speak.
and don't even think about not creating a greeting for your voicemail. the only thing worse than listening to two greetings, is when the first one consists of the female robot spelling out all ten digits of your phone number.
in this society where no one wants to wait...for anything, it's no wonder we all love the text message.

Ooh, I hate that, too! Okay, I can't really hate on people who never answer their phone, 'cuz I never answer my phone...but I DO hate when the lady comes on and starts talking after you've already heard the person's message.
