brighter than sunshine

though i have made a conscious effort in recent months to cut back on my number of "review" blogs, i cannot possibly remain mum on the brilliance of little miss sunshine.

maybe you've heard of it because of the massive buzz it generated at sundance, or maybe you've heard of it as the movie where steve carell plays a gay guy, or maybe you haven't heard of it yet at all...but you will. and, you should do yourself a favor and see it too.

it's a road trip movie that isn't about the road trip, and a beauty pageant movie that isn't about the beauty pageant. it's a movie about a delightfully dysfunctional family--perfectly casted, fluidly acted, and wonderfully engaging. the story is so fresh, and the comedy so entertaining, that i have no reservations declaring it my favorite movie of the summer, if not the year.

and, that's as much as you get.
